Tom Izzo | From walk-on to Izzo’s inner circle—Chris Grier Luchey’s journey!

Before the banners, there was a bond. Chris Luchey met Tom Izzo as an 18-year-old walk-on hopeful at Michigan State. Over time, their relationship evolved—Luchey became a trusted scout and recruiter, influencing player evaluation and key introductions. Izzo went on to win a national championship and develop NBA stars, while Luchey’s insights played a key role behind the scenes.

Mat Ishbia | A walk-on turned billionaire—Luchey helped open the door!

From walk-on to the second youngest NBA franchise owner in U.S. history. Luchey recognized Ishbia’s leadership and connected him with legendary basketball coach, Tom Izzo at MSU. Ishbia credits this for shaping his life and career—building the number one U.S. home lending institution, United Wholesale Mortgage and purchasing the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury Basketball teams.

Isiah Thomas | The draft pick no one expected—until Luchey made the case!

Chris Luchey once convinced Isiah Thomas to take a chance on Wilson Chandler in the 2007 NBA Draft. Chandler was projected to go undrafted—Luchey saw something more. The Knicks drafted him 23rd overall. He went on to earn over $100 million in his career, further validating Luchey’s elite eye for talent.
